Short answer

LG Washer Not Draining: The Short Answer

An LG washer that will not drain almost always has a clogged drain pump filter, a sock or coin jammed in the pump, a kinked drain hose, or a failed drain pump. The first two you can check yourself in a few minutes. A bad pump needs a technician. Our repair starts at $175 and we are usually there the same day in The Woodlands, Spring, Tomball and the Houston area.
What it means

What the error codes mean

  • OE on the displayThe washer tried to drain and could not. On most LG front-loaders this is the drain filter or pump.
  • Stops full of water, no codeUsually the pump is running but blocked, or the door lock is stopping the cycle.
Try this first

Check these first (safe, no tools)

  1. Open the small door at the bottom front of the washer. Put a towel down, pull the drain hose plug and let the water out. Unscrew the round filter and clear the lint, coins and hair.
  2. Look behind the washer. The drain hose should rise in a smooth curve into the standpipe, not be pushed in more than 6 inches and not be kinked.
  3. Run a Rinse & Spin. If it drains now, you are done.

When to Call Us

  • You hear a humming or buzzing sound during drain but no water moves. The pump motor is likely jammed or burned out.
  • The filter is clean, the hose is fine and the OE code comes back.
  • Water leaks from the bottom during drain.

Got questions?

LG Washer Not Draining FAQ

Can I keep using the washer if it drains slowly?

Not for long. A slow drain means the pump is working too hard and will fail, and standing water starts to smell within a day.

Is it worth fixing a 10-year-old LG washer?

Usually yes if the drum and motor are fine. A pump repair costs far less than a new washer.

Do you fix LG top-load washers too?

Yes. Top-loaders have the same drain pump problems, plus a lid lock that can stop the cycle.

How much does the repair cost?

The diagnostic is $75 and it is free if you go ahead with the repair. Repairs start from $175, and you approve the price before any work starts. The repair comes with a 30-day labor warranty.

Do you offer same-day service?

Yes, in many cases. We work Monday to Saturday, 8am to 8pm. Call or text (346) 431-1725 or book online at nurappliance.com and we will find the earliest time.

Do you give discounts?

Yes. 20% off for seniors, 20% off for military members and veterans, and 10% off for returning customers.
